Ulver is one the most innovative band ever existed. Perdition City was a huge change in their sound: from black metal to electronic music.

Shining (the swedish band): you love them or you hate them. They are mad, depressed, sometimes disgusting, in a bad taste, but they are fucking class. This is poetry in music. [First added to this chart: 04/02/2013]

This album is perfect. When you're listening to a random song of LFDGD you always think it's the best song of the whole album. This happens because there are no weak songs in this album. There aren't good songs, too. Each song in this album is great. However you should avoid this band if you are depressed. It could lead you to suicide. [First added to this chart: 09/22/2010]

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 68.6/100, a mean average of 62.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 59.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 22.3.

People puts the fuss about this sort of metal chart but then doesn't say anything about the lovely random soft rock charts that fill this website. Congrats for this reckless but dared chart. I only missed Opeth.

Interesting chart, I've only heard of like 6 albums off this, the rest are a complete mystery to what I've heard.

Geez, VideoKid, you really are very sensitive about this stuff. I don't know how it is on some of these melodic viking mathmetal message boards you visit, but we try to communicate with each other in a civilized manner here. I'm not sure on what planet having almost half of your albums be from one decade and 6 different metal subgenres could be considered diverse. I felt you deserved at least an explanation for my low score, so I was only being honest. I hope your revenge score of 5 for my chart helped you feel better about yourself. I won't bother to defend my taste. Just relax, man. It's only the internet.

Hmm...I don't know. There's some rap-rock (Nu-metal?), some electronica, some Chili Peppers and even some Hendrix. It's reasonably diverse after you get out of the top 20. I like the album title, "Nebularium."

You're right. Your chart attests to the fact that you know a lot more about death metal than I do.
