This is a pretty cool record. It flows well and the rhymes are pretty fluid and as usual from Big Boi top notch. I will also point out that this album is ranked 29 as of now in 2010 and Pitchfork was totally loving on it when it came out. That fact sorta makes this whole argument that the only Rap/Hip Hop that is big on this site is Stuff pitchfork loved, because if that was true then logically this album would not be rated so low. Just saying. I like Pitchfork and I respect the writers of that magazine usually, I don't understand why they are hated on so much. Just saying.
But back to this album, yeah, it's pretty cool. Big Boi's best solo record that I've heard.
One of my favourite rap album
shutterbug
Outkast released Idlewild and it was a mediocre album at best. I thought Outkast was finished and maybe the band is but Big Boi sounds like he is just getting started with this album. Wow what a way to start out! Whenever an amazing band decides to call it quits and the main members go out and start their solo careers I'm always worried they are going to be a flop. That's not what we have here. This is no flop. Not even close. This is an incredible album I don't care whether its hip hop, alternative rock, or some imaginary genre that paladisiac decided to make up to try to describe music that is so fresh and so clean clean. I hate genres...also Big Boi didn't learn what he knows from Andre 3000! Big Boi has always known exactly what he was doing and it's no different now... anyway that is beside the point. Point is Sir Lucious Left Foot is cooler than cool. It's ice cold!
Best track: Shine Blockas
Big boi must have learned a lot from andre 3000, the supposedly more eccentric member of outkast, because "sir luscious" sounds like an ecclectric potpourri of Tnotch hip-hop, from the skittering breakbeat of "shutterbug" to the alternative-influenced "follow us" to the electro-mechanical convulsion of "you ain't no dj", the styles are many and style is second-cousin to class.
Much to my surprise this is actually an amazing album.
I don't usually listen to this type of music but I can't stop listening to this album. Song after song it hits me.
Along with Kanye's album such are exposing me to something new.
good album, some of his songs came out early and they kinda overplayed them like follow us, but still good,
favs:
Be Still
Night Night
Daddy Fat Sax
Arcade Fire who ?!!!??!?!! Best of 2010-
I'm not a big hip hop fan, I do like Outkast though. But this album is highly impressive. I can't wait to see a new generation of hip hop. I think the next Outkast album could be groundbreaking!
