Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.1/100, a mean average of 73.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.6.

Just for one listen.
It's not really bad, but it's not interesting for me.
The only two songs that may not be considered a waste of time are listening:
5) Roller (74.10%)
of the ten best sections of the song:
peak: 76%
lowest: 70%

9) Silver Dollar (71.60%)
peak: 80%
lowest: 64%

I evaluate the individual sections of the songs (approx. 20 seconds) and then I make the overall average (from 10 best sections of the song).

I bought Harder Faster and Nature of the Beast on vinyl many years ahead of acquiring this album. I actually wanted Harder Faster on CD to listen to in the car and it came as a double with First Glance. To be honest it isn't a patch on those two albums but having said that it isn't a bad album either. 'Roller' is my personal favourite.

Better than average mainstream rock. Some hits, some serious rock, and some filler; all in all a worthwhile if unremarkable album.

Yes, Roller and Rock'n'Roll is a Vicious Game were big radio hits but I say Comin Right Down on Top of Me is the best song here and I love I'm Alive and Let Yourself Go. Still. Nearly 40 years later.

Not great, but not at all bad. I'd never listened to the entire album before, only select songs. I know that Roller was the hit song of the album, but frankly, I like Get Ready for Love, Right Down to It, and I'm Alive much better.

Classic rock staple. o I don't revere them quite like jhuik, but there's nothing wrong with a little April Wine as you cruise down the highway.

I'm proud to say I added this album to BEA.... The crazy slide guitar that opens this album segues into justawholelottafuckinA. After the silly rocker, Get Ready For Love, there's the ni-ice piece of songwriting called Rock N Roll is a Vicious Game. Right Down to It anticipates everything-Van-Halen did but here, it only leads into the pinnacle of this essential part of any 70's canon: Roller (still played not nearly enough on Cancon classic rock radio stations) and the astonishingly strong, sadly underrated, abso-fuckin-lutely heartbreaking centerpiece, Comin Right Down on Top of Me. Nothing after that really matters, but they still hit 70's party rock anthemism with I'm Alive and the very smooth Let Yourself Go and the fade-out track which fades out very nicely, thank you very much. Don't get it? Too bad for you. You have my pity, friend....
