Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 81.5/100, a mean average of 76.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.8/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 21.7.

Awesome. Now i can't wait to make an 80s chart.
Interesting list!
nice, Thanks for including "Pink Opaque", the only album that includes "Spangle Maker", my favorite CT song...I have periodically put that compilation on my chart, but take it off because it is a compilation...should put it on again...It is such a great song...one of the all time greatest tracks..
Great list! Can't wait to see your other choices!
Some really interesting picks, also interesting you think meat is murder is the smith's best.
Not bad, but Double fantasy is unexpected choice
pretty cool list
good list. you have a refined aesthetic. I like this style of music, but it's not my favorite. When I am feeling like Cocteau Twins I will look into some of the other picks on your chart that I don't know about yet. Thanks!
Thanks Runaway. I think the 2 first Garbage albums are quintessential 90's music. Cheers.
Can see you're a pretty alternative music lover. Interesting chart with unpredictable choices (i would only drop Garbage's album). Cheers
