Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.9/100, a mean average of 78.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.4.

Like nothing I've ever heard before - completely original and fantastic. It was a wonderful idea to include microtonal tuning in each track, and the end result certainly did not disappoint! I'd recommend giving the album a few listens and allowing yourself time to absorb it fully before rating it.

Favorite tracks: Rattlesnake, Open Water, Nuclear Fusion

I had high expectations for this album and it's even better than I hoped. The jamming nature of opening track Rattlesnake sets up the album allowing the listener to adjust to the microtonal sound and from then on it's a lot of fun. Immediately wanted to listen to it again after first listen.

@sethmadsen: glad you came back for more :)

Personally, its an instant like _because_ of the non-standard tonality, but I can imagine it's a bit of an acquired taste.

Don't write this off on first listen, people! ;)

On the one hand you have Fleet Foxes with 3 Albums in 10 years , and then you have KGATLW ! Prolific doesn’t begin to describe them , try this on for size. 2016 they gave us “ Nonagon Infinity “ which I quite liked until I heard 2017s “ Flying Microtonal Banana “ , which sounded like their 2nd 2017 release “ Murder Of The Universe “ ( 21 Songs In 46 minutes). Then we get 2017 release 3 “ Scetches Of Brunswick East” and number 4 Polygonwandaland” . And here in lies my problem with KGATLW , 5 albums in 12 months is way too many. To my ears they all sound awfully similar & none feel special . Just ANOTHER trippy release amongst the other trippy releases. I’m happy to wait 5 years for 1 great Album, I’m looking at you Fleet Foxes .

I can't even express how much I love this album. Australia is just pumping out some unbelievable rock the past decade.

Rattlesnake, Ocean Water, Sleep Drifter and Nuclear Fusion are probably my favorites
