Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 13% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.6/100, a mean average of 72.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.9.

Great album, very recommendable, all tracks 10 points, better than Oasis after 90's.........
Much better than the last Oasis-albums. Especially side A of the LP. Last few songs are still good, but not as good as the start of the album.
Everybody's On The Run, Death Of You and Me and If I Had A gunare some of the best songs ever written by Noel
Awesome album, it is a pity that "A Simple Game of Genius" wasn't included in the final release... Fav tracks: Aka... Broken Arrow, If I Had a Gun, Everybody's On the Run and A Simple Game of Genius.
Noel Gallagher is a good songwriter (he used to be my fav) but as most of them with the years they start to be repetitive and boring. Always the same chords the same themes and sound...innovation please!
If all the album was like the first half it would be a great album, however the tunes become too similar and show nothing new on the second half so the album is just good. My favourite tracks are, on that order, tracks 1, 3 and 4.
This album present to us something we would never think about. the good side of the sad breakup of Oasis.
On his gigs, Noel always starts with "(It's Good) To Be Free" and this contrasts with the freedom of his talent with the end of Oasis. The best songs of Noel Gallagher since the end of the 90s are on "High Flying Birds".
He wrote some classic tunes for Oasis on the 2000s as "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" of Heathen Chemistry or "The Importance of Being Idle" of "Don't Believe the Truth" but nothing compared to the songs that made of him a super-hero of the 90s.
But on "High Flying Birds" we can listen to some great songs. "If I Had A Gun", "Everybody's on The Run", "The Death Of You And Me" and "Dream On" definitely would be on his "best ever" list.
Some lost material and unreleased songs (examples, "The Dying of the Light" and "Freaky Teeth") tell us that the next album can be even better than the first.
have to say, Oasis’s breakup up is kind of like when the Eagles broke up. Each part of the band is releasing solo albums that sound exactly like the original band’s albums. Liam Gallagher and the rest of Oasis formed Beady Eye and released an album earlier this year. A pretty good one too. But Noel Gallagher topped them here. Say what you will about Noel Gallagher (and not much of it is good I’m sure) but he can write some great music. This album is very good, sounds like an Oasis album. If you’re an Oasis fan you’ll like this for sure, but even if you’re not, it’s a great album, worth checking out.
This album was a grower. On my first listen I thought it was like a collection of Oasis B-Sides. Eventually though after a few playthroughs I realised the greatness of his songwriting and melodies. Although I would much prefer his more up tempo tunes like Freaky Teeth and Mucky Fingers. Still a great album
Im actually glad Oasis broke up, getting a 100% Noel album was nice. I dont really feel there is a weak track on the album, even the bonus tracks were fairly high caliber
