Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.8/100, a mean average of 77.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.3.

An extremely captivating listen. The rhythmic repetition and frenetic vocals on the upbeat tracks harken back to Tago-Mago-era Can. Loads of variety; not every track is incredible, but every track is a surprise. The chanting, drones, and post-nuclear-apocalyptic themes convey a pervasive sense of dread. Deeply experimental music is not usually my thing, but Deceit's eclecticism grabbed my ear and I definitely anticipate returning to it.

Weird and unique - definitely, byt for me not very enjoyable. Sometimes it hits, sometimes not.

This record really stands out for its innovation and its experimentation, making it one of the more enjoyable listens I have had recently. The music is such a mixed bag and you really have no idea where they might be going to next. They don't stick to a single genre and they really have an edge to them that sets them apart. This is best demonstrated on the tracks Sleep, Cenotaph and Makeshift Swahili. There is a lot of fun to be had on this record and it is very difficult to get bored while listening. However, the release is very up and down and sometimes the quality does dip quite a lot. They seem to go through moments where this experimental nature just flows through them naturally and other times it feels blocked or like they have lost their way. It does feel confused at times as well and like they had no grand plan for the record as they didn't really know what it was. Overall, a very unique and interesting listen that is a load of fun to explore as it stands out against other releases.

Innovative, experimental, strange and still holds up to this day! Really like that they don't stick to a genre and just go wherever the album takes them. Standout tracks for me are 'Sleep', 'S.P.Q.R' and 'Shrinkwrap' - also just to mention that 'Hi Baku Shyo (Suffer Bomb Disease)' is one of the most unsettling songs I've heard, a very apt end to a great album!

Great outing from a strange, short-lived band. Love Paper hats and makeshift swahili

Incredibly well done experimental/avant-garde/post-punk(?) record. This is what I imagine Sun City Girls wishes they sounded like.
