I still love R.E.M., but I went through a phase where I would listen to two albums of theirs a day - and virtually nothing else.
The kind of thing you're looking for definitely depends if you're enjoying IRS, Warner Bros, Post-Berry R.E.M. the most. I'd say first, if you're enjoying R.E.M., just listen to more R.E.M.. Unless you've literally exhausted their entire catalogue, I think there's still something valuable in every of their studio albums. I'm still changing my opinions about which are my favourites, and discovering that some of their 'worst' albums have become the ones I enjoy most (except Around The Sun, which I still recommend, but it's pretty terrible).
The two bands that really scratched that R.E.M. itch for me back then were Suede and Elbow. Elbow for that mellow, grandmother-would-approve, melodic side of R.E.M., and Suede for those darker, more cynical tones.
If you're looking for more acoustic-rock, Sun Kil Moon and Red House Painters are a good next try, if you haven't done so already. Especially these two, which I've since come to love perhaps more than any R.E.M. record:

Being from Ottawa, I have had a full pass for Bluesfest every year since I can remember,
and this song is great. Although I actually love the festival, I understand where he's coming from as there always seems to be some sort of problem every year. I've missed 3 of my most anticipated shows due to unknown cancellation reasons. This is essentially a diss track to Ottawa in general, but mostly our festival season.. And I'm loving it!
I feel honoured in a weird way to have found a diss track dedicated to my hometowns biggest music festival, and the highlight of every summer. Definitely going to dig into the rest of their discography.
