The best album by one of the best hip hop groups of all time. Their delivery is as smooth as the beats and it makes for a really relaxing listen. Sucka Nigga, Oh My God, and The Chase Part II are some of the group's best songs.

The fucking greatest. Could be my #1. Steve Biko is better than your favourite song. And this album is better than the Low End Theory.

Agreed. Low End is consistently cool and understated, but Low End Theory feels like they really understood what they were doing and ran with it, doing some pretty innovative things in the process. A hell of a lot of fun to listen to.

Um, so I love this album and all, but I'll admit I could never really understand why so many prefer it to Low End Theory. To each his own and all that, but I always thought this album felt kinda samey relative its predecessor.

Of course, I'm being picky. It's still excellent. It's just no Low End Theory.

That's funny, 'samey' is exactly what I'd accuse Low End Theory being (mostly bass heavy beats) whereas I'd say Marauders has more variety being much more sample orientated.

Weird. I'd call Low End Theory one of the more varied hip-hop albums I've ever heard. I hear what you're saying about the beats, but Low End Theory has more variance in song structure and mood. At the risk of sounding reductive, every song on Midnight Marauders sounds more or less like a straightforward party song to me. "Midnight" is the only song on it that really stands out to me as distinct from the rest. The beats on Low End Theory may all have a pretty similar aesthetic, but the songs vary tremendously in tone (for instance, compare the dark, atmospheric sound of "Jazz" to the highly aggressive sound of "Scenario", or the subtle funk of "Excursions", etc.). Tbh, I'm curious what exactly you find samey about Low End Theory, because that's not a word that would ever occur to me in a million years to describe that album. To each his own, of course, but I just don't see it.
