Not to take credit, because I can't seem to write it in such a way I don't sound like an ass, but that 'nowhere' might have been me. Nebel Lang had a really solid release last year, so I kept a tab on what was coming next. Happy with how the record turned out, I think it's a solid piece too. Glad people are enjoying it And yeah, everyone should give it a spin. It's a super easy and super fast listen.

Aboogi by Imarhan
(Tuareg/desert blues— great guitar work, super crisp production) — wish the cover was just the centre artwork and not the sky-ish backdrop, not sure why they chose that, but that's a minor complaint
Unfortunately, the new Tanya Tagaq fell way below my expectations. Sounded like she was trying too hard. Doesn't help that the production's kinda off. Some parts were actually quite bad.
New Nyege Nyege Tapes release from La Roche also wasn't that interesting. Oh well. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

Well thank you Hayden for adding it. Wouldn't have listened or knew it existed if you didn't put it on a chart here. _________________ My Top 100 :

Anaïs Mitchell by Anaïs Mitchell
What a marvelous month of releases in January, I think there are some year-end favs already out - including Anaïs Mitchell's self-titled. Her first solo record in basically a decade, it's a gorgeous collection of songs that reflect on her past. Lots of ghosts present. Not political or character-driven like her music usually is, all very self-reflective. Beautiful contemporary americana.
Crazy line-up this week! Black Country, New Road (RIP Isaac Wood), Mitski, Animal Collective, and Cate Le Bon. Next week we've got new Big Thief, Spoon, Frank Turner, and Shamir. Later in the month new Beach House, Kanye West, Spiritualized, and Tears For Fears. Could be an epic month...

Apologies, I did not literally mean "Rest In Peace" referring to a death. I'm sorry if that caused any offense. I only meant it colloquially, implicitly about his departure from the band. I wish him the best in his mental health recovery

All the Cate Le Bon singles have been super promising, looking forward to tomorrow’s drop - will be my first new listen of 2022 (unless I’m forgetting something, in which case it probably wasn’t very good). _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Short reviews before sleep.
New Pupil Slicer song is meh.
New RHCP single (yes, with Frusciante) is pretty cool and features a great solo.
Ants From Up There is pretty much what I expected and hoped for. Easy AOTY for now.
Laurel Hell is Mitski taking the synthpop road, it works like a charm.
New Conway, Benny and Westside Gunn collab song is very good as well.
Yeule's Glitch Princess is 5 and a half hours long. The closing track is 80% of that runtime. Didn't listen to it, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to evaluate an album like that lol.
Edit: managed to sneak in Time Skiffs as well, a fun psych journey, it's Animal Collective's best in quite some time from what I've heard. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart
