There are some really good songs here, but overall this doesn't sound like anything worth listening from start to finish.
I agree with the consensus here... a bunch of good songs well made, but none of them are particularly great. The whole listen is a bit derivative.
First half is amazing, and totally a deserver of a 90, but the second part drags down imo. Still, a very fun ride all the way.
Più acerbo di come sarebbe stato il successivo "El camino", con suoni e melodie più che vintage, demodé. I Black Keys evocano gli anni sessanta più sorpassati, soprattutto nelle melodie, ma più avanti sapranno essere più interessanti.
There is a lot to enjoy in this album. The guitars lay on riff after riff, the bass and drums are solid and the songwriting is also good, creating an album full of well constructed songs.
The problem is that it is all a bit unspectactular and unoriginal. This could easily be an album from the sixies or seventies, but not in a good way as this sometimes makes the Black Keys sound like a tribute band.
The singer is also a bit of an aquired taste, there aren't any notes which are particularly difficult but he manages to come across as a bit whiney at times. However, despite the songs blending together slightly after half an hour, the album is still a solid 7 and worth a lesson. I just cannot imagine The Black Keys ever surprising me.
The best Black keys album, but having said that nothing the Black keys do is ever spectacular. Everything they do is always just okay. It's always competently done but it's always nothing better than good. All their songs are just alright. They haven't written even one great song. They're always just okay, nothing more.
Brothers is a pretty good album by the Black Keys, but its nothing special. Tracks 2-4 are the only ones really worth listening to, but those three are really good tracks.
The space the bass/bass drum takes up and the power behind it on this album is fantastic. I feel this is there best songwriting... possibly ever. Nice grit from their past smoothed over with something that immediately connects.

My 2nd favourite Black Keys album, behind Rubber Factory.
