Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.0/100, a mean average of 70.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

For fans of this excellent album (me) a deluxe version is now available with some cool Demo versions of the albums best tracks

Also I read recently this is apparently a concept album which upon reflection makes sense . TBH I'm not totally sure what the story is but I believe its Hollywood/acting related as these themes keep appearing in the lyrics . I also believe the track "Mrs Adams" is central to the albums story

In credible instrumentation choices and composition on this one. Great, lush sound and a great album through and through. very enjoyable.

I think I second Brad on this one in the sense that it is a grower. It is much better by the 3rd listen.

Having said that, I do have to agree with the others saying that it's really hard to get into because of how cheeky it is... having said that, THAT IS FOXYGEN'S SCHTICK... so, it is what it is.

Musically it is pretty fantastic. And I have to say I'm getting this Freddy Mercury vibe from it.

Somehow Vulfpeck's silliness is better and I don't know why.

Hang is one of THE best Albums in 2017 , and sits comfortably in my top 3 for the year . I nearly missed this album altogether, upon my 1st listening I’m was initially disappointed thinking “ what is this garbage “ ? . Then somehow I listened to it again & the seed started to grow & eventually I fell in love with every track. It’s different but in a good way , it’s got great lyrics, it’s fun , it’s serious, it’s not too long. It’s a seriously fantastic album. Please just give it a chance, don’t dismiss after 1 listen, trust me you will be rewarded

Enjoyable and cheeky, but yes, also difficult to ever take very seriously.

I really, really adore their last two albums, but gosh, I could not get into this one. Clearly a labor of love, but somehow, this feels a million times more forced than an 80-minute psychedelic circle jerk. Overly busy and, for all its many layers, pretty hollow.

This is some very good stuff, I've only listened to their "We are the 21st century..." album which was very good but this is possibly better. Throwback to glam rock of the 70's with a singer who sounds like a mix of Bowie and Jagger.
