A very overlooked masterpiece. It is one of his best. Three things made this album great: Bobby Hutcherson on vibes, Herbie on piano, Shorter on Tsax. And Lee of course. Billy Higgins, I think, was the drummer. These were all top artists for Blue Note, and they gave their best to this effort. Sparse and beautiful, I still dig it regularly. Most, if not all, of his albums were more swaggering hard bop works. This is different. It shows just how talented he was. Check out Moncur's Evolution if you doubt his post bop credentials. This is more "new thing" than most attempts, and still held melody for which he should be famous for. Nobody could write a melody as well as Morgan during his reign, excepting Shorter, and here they work together again. It is very sad to me that this album gets so little notice. It really is that great.
