Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.4/100, a mean average of 71.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.1.

Eno's 26th solo album "Reflection" consists of a single 54 minute ambient track. This album isn't innovative or groundbreaking, but there is a hidden power in its quiet, cyclical beauty. It may not be apparent at first, but rather than being a chunk of monotonous noise, this album places you in a state of introspection and is genuinely soothing and restorative.

Of course, ambient music is a genre that is highly subjective so many people may feel nothing, which is unfortunate, but I'm convinced that Eno's latest is more than just "pretty background music"; it is a timeless experience that opens up the more you pay attention.

Not even that great as a background album. It's essentially three chords cycling on pad, and some samples on top. For 54 minutes. What the hell, Eno?
It starts to fade into the background of life. I start to forget its there entirely. Until it hits me with a strange sample and I remember there's music playing.

45 is high, I give it that, because I believe that there's probably something he intended this album to do. If he never speaks out on his intentions, It will drop.

Not Eno's best work but it's still a good ambient album/song. Perfect for reading.

First 2017 album listened to this year. Solid ambient music, but not something I would listen to more than a couple times
