Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.6/100, a mean average of 72.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.1.

My least favorite album by the group nothing on here is worth listening to
A bit of a step down from the genius of Discipline but still solid.

A strange mix of heavy rock, prog, and new wave, not a very successful combinatio
For me, this is the weakest of the 80's albums. Discipline and Three of a perfect pair have more freshness, boldness. Beat bores me. The other two albums excite me.

Favourite track: "Waiting Man"
Least-favourite track: "Requiem"

If you're building a King Crimson playlist, I think it's got to have Sartori in Tangier and the magnificent Requiem (which apparently almost broke up the band) on it. Other than those tracks this stuff ranges from inessential to really bad. You definitely should read the Wikipedia entry on this album for some context on how much the band members hated it.

Beat is the "open minded" period of King Crimson ... and this is the beginning of the dream line-up. when progressive rock meets a kind of newwave, a bit of industrial rock, disco sensations,
discipline, beat, and three of perfect pair, it's either love or hate by comparing what they had done during the seventies ... And I think that this was their most discs in the trend of their time .... today, the current king crimson disc sound nostalgic, and during the seventies, it sounded too early !!!
