Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

The last 20-min track is similar to his Sleep music. The first part is the strongest, but some interesting pieces of electronica in the central section.
Max Richter's score for Wayne McGregor's dance piece 'Woolf Works' based on three Virginia Woolf novels (Mrs Dalloway, Orlando, and The Waves). Being one of classical music's most forward-thinking composer's the music is surprisingly, more concerned with creating a sense of pathos and empathy than anything self-consciously avant garde. The musical journey nonetheless, flows with an elegant stateliness and symmetry.
Not Richter's best but still pretty good. Although obviously connected, the three different themes don't meld well together (for me) - I would have preferred a more unified feel to the record. That said, some of the tracks are among Richter's best, such as 'Mrs. Dalloway: Meeting Again'.
