More than 25 years after their stellar debut, Jay Farrar and Son Volt come back with their eighth release. This album stands out from the others in their catalog thanks to the addition of electrified slide guitars a-la southern rock and even a little British invasion. As per usual, Son Volt delivers exceptional folk songs with a rootsy flavor. After four years since their last release, "Notes of Blue" was worth the wait.
