Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 15% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.4/100, a mean average of 73.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.2.

A nice collection of catchy pop-rock tunes. So many memorable choruses. The obvious highlight is the brilliant Don't Dream It's Over, but I get a kick out of most of the tracks. Mean To Me is 2nd and the closing track That's What I Call Love 3rd. Well worth a listen.
I agree with sethmasden. Typical '80's pop-rock sound and nothing remarkable apart from that wonderful hit.
Totally one hit wonder for me. Nothing but a little above average.
I heard it because of Don't Dream It's Over. It's a great album, not bad songs.
Best Tracks: Something So Strong, Don't Dream It's Over
A classic album of the 80's. Catchy songs and good fun.
Feels like a collection of disjointed unrelated singles and not an album. Styles and sound changes so much from song to song that they sound like different bands are performing them. Some very good songs and some not.
I don't care what the average person says, this is a masterpiece.
