Long story short.... I got into Wilco a year after Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was released and it took me a few listens to like. I started getting into the earlier stuff... Being There being the next. That didn't grow on me, but then watched the Documentary film I Am Trying To Break Your Heart and after that I was hooked. YHF was slowly becoming my fav album and the early stuff was sinking in. Summerteeth, in the beginning, I thought was boring and bland at times. That album took the longest to win me over. Being There wasgrowing on me fast. Then BAM!!! A Ghost Is Born came out and blew my socks off. This was it!Slowly becoming my favourite band (over Radiohead and The Cure). I mean, I loved all the favs off that album right away (Kidsmoke, Handshake Drugs, AtLeast That's what You Said) but after a year or two it was the simple rock/pop songs on the latter half that won me over, and the great lyrics of course. Wishful Thinking. Company In My Back. Theologians. The Late Greats.
I loved Tweedy, because he can go into the simple writing styles and churn out great songs, then get into our heads with the noisy drone stuff that got me curious in the first place (being a fan of Radiohead and other electronic alternative). Heck, these guys were supposed to be alt country.
Sky Blue Sky was none of that drone, and Tweedy went and made this album that just spoke to me at the time. I am near his age, and just to make that sort-of straight up laid back album was perfectly flowing for me, starting with Either Way right to On And On And On. Muzzzle of Bees is my all time fav (check out my signature quote) and I knew other fans did not like the album as a whole (yes, Nels Cline makes Impossible Germany the stand out) but I just loved that Jeff & Co didn't have to put on a Via Chicago or I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, just to show that they can be different. I thought they tried too hard on Wilco(The Album) with Bull Black Nova and say to the fans that they still write those types of songs. It was a good song, but got boring after a few listens and didn't seem to fit.
Sky Blue Sky relaxes me, and I love the vibe it brings. I also made a burnt copy that leads with One True Vine that blends into Either Way. I love that lead in combo...
Well, that's the short version of why this is my fav Wilco album...

Yes, I like AM, and I am seeing Box Full Of Letters in their playlists lately. Passenger Side is a great staple tune. I like the Uncle Tupelo albums. I bought the Loose Fur albums as well, I like the O'Rourke stuff with Glenn on drums. O'Rourke had a hand in YHF, I like his solo stuff as well.
What are your thoughts of Sky Blue Sky? Maybe try that on a long drive!!

Duke is your favorite Genesis album? Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it's definitely in my bottom 5. I think I remember hearing it was one of Tony Banks's favorite albums too. It just seems sort of half-baked and ambiguous in its overall sound and concept, like there's good stuff there, but something is kinda missing and I can't get into it all the way. "Duchess" is an amazing song, though. Overall, I feel like I enjoy most of the albums on this chart, but not many that I'm really really into, if you know what I mean. I sort of feel the same about Wilco. I like their music, but I feel like I can't quite immerse myself in it or "get it" completely. Perhaps that will change one day.

Thanks for your comments on my chart - yeah I've heard Disintegration and it is a top album, but prefer Head On The Door. Hadn't noticed my lack of female artists - I like lots including Kate Bush, Portishead, Amy Winehouse. I've got a few on your albums and Artists and have over 20 of your chart on my wishlist - including PJ Harvey. Stuff I've only been hearing in the last few years for the first time is bumping my historical stuff out, so you're right there.

Some days frustrating, as I write long comments for some albums, it ends up deleted as I press a wrong button and then I quit because i forgot what i had just written and do not want to spend the time re-writing and it possibly disappearing again.
Slowly I will improve on the comments...
