Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.3/100, a mean average of 73.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 10.9.

This is a very low key entry into Arthur Jeffe’s series of albums. It is quite charming but n places. A couple of tracks are minimal reworkings of two of his father’s tunes. The strings are laid bare on this record and the highlights come from motifs provided from the accordion. A perfect album to go to sleep to. In a good way.
Yes, it can't be perfect, as it's not the "Orchestra" anymore. But how close! "Ricercar" seems like a flashback to the 70s, when the Penguin Cafe Orchestra mwlted minimal music and folk to something unheard of before. The pale sun of the morning shines on this music, it's a warming sun and their Kraftwerk cover version dances mechanically without asking any computer for assistance, even the shellac sound effects were recreated with a strange creativity (shake some salt in a bowl and listen). On the other hand, in all it's beatuty it's nothing more than recreation.
