A surprisingly good electropop record from australian sex siren Holly Valance drawing from dance and rock music. "State of Mind" hits some highs (the excellent self titled lead single for instance) but somewhat stumbles throughout the middle. The record sounds like it's been beamed in from 1984 and works best when tracks feature both guitars and electronics, the "sexy" come-on lyrics are a bit hit and miss as well.

A 41 minute come-on from Holly Valance who has surprisingly delivered an impressive electropop album with sexy vocals, racy lyrics, splashes of rock and futuristic production. This one's aged quite well and, dare I say it, could have been ahead of its time what with its extremely disappointing record sales. I sit back in awe every time I hear that title track.
