Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 19% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.1/100, a mean average of 73.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.2.

1968 was a bit of a crazy year in music, more noisy, experimental, maybe as a sort of rejection of 1967 and its "Summer of Love". The Crazy World of Arthur Brown encompasses a lot of what made the year unique, while making steps toward progressive rock on songs like Child of My Kingdom and a strong fascination with Hell on all of side 1, most notably on the song Fire, which I would also single out as the best song on here.
Psychedelic Rock blended with some jazz-driven Blues. Fire is the highlight track here, obviously, but this record has great other tunes too. The absence of electric guitar and the proeminent organ lines give an exotic feeling to these songs.
Listen to the original mono mix without the orchestral overdubs. Apparently, the drums and keyboards were accidentally recorded to the same track, and the overdubs were made to mask the poor recording, in lieu of re-recording the album. The mono mix projects a much more engrossing atmosphere.
Fire is of course a classic, I Put a Spell on You is worth listening to, the rest is quirky but OK.
