Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.2/100, a mean average of 68.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.5.

She definitely peaked with this album artistically. Of course there are one or two filler songs, but overall the sound is consistent and the production is very reminiscent of what was popular in 2017 but with a darker taste. Tell Me You Love Me is one of the best ballads of the 10s, so big and grand, those gospel vocals are the shit. Cry Baby, Concentrate and Only Forever are also in the top 5.

It's a solid album. I think it just highlights a struggle with consistency, as this is Demi's most consistent album so far and it still has tons of flaws. The production can be a dramatic compliment like Tell Me You Love Me or it can be dated like Sorry Not Sorry. The songwriting can be natural like Concentrate, or it can be forced like Sexy Dirty Love. Overall though, I think she makes a successful transition and makes another small step forward as a songwriter and gains some nuance as a singer.
