Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.8/100, a mean average of 69.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.0.

Pretty exciting pop rock album! It's fun dang it. I need to listen to this band more often, they're freaking catchy!

I feel this record has been absolutely torn to shreds by the music criticism community, mainly over the 'social justice warriors' making Garbus feel bad over her supposed cultural appropriation in her previous work and her usage of much of this record as an apology for this HIDEOUS CRIME. It can get a bit obnoxious - Colonizer, anyone? - but to disregard this record entirely is a mistake. There are amazing alt pop tracks here with great explosive choruses, and songs throughout the record are rooted in danceable, catchy beats. Not great, but not THAT bad.

If white guilt was an album, this would be it; and that's not necessarily a criticism, but it's certainly at the forefront of the album's themes, lyrically. That being said the album seems like it's trying super hard to be 'woke' and I'm not so into that. Musically, the album is really quite repetitive, annoyingly so sometimes, especially on songs like "Honesty", and "Look At Your Hands." I don't particularly enjoy Garbus' voice, so when she's saying the same thing over and over again on a mostly uninteresting dance-pop beat, it just gets old - and that's most of the songs on this album. That being said there are a couple enjoyable and nicely produced songs here, such as "Who Are You."
