Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 66.5/100, a mean average of 63.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 63.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.0.

Their most likable album, all the way through, in quite a few years (also I really loved "Please Be Honest," which is just Robert Pollard by himself being melancholy and making weird jokes). It's a mix of comedy and casual songcraft and not-fussy performance. I can have it on repeat for a while without tiring of it. I think since the moment the music business was taken over by Spotify and the streaming-track economy, Pollard has been not too picky about which songs he decides to release (just a guess), since you probably make more money if you just release more tracks. This made the previous two albums seem pretty unfocused, but this album seems edited and curated.
Is it the simplistic style? Is it the off-vocals? Not sure. Either way, not my thing.
The prolific GBV release album number 3 within 12 months and album number 25 since 1983 with "Space Gun"
'Gray Spat Matters' clocking in at 1:29 is the best song here , the remaining 14 tracks are quite a mixed bag with many tracks oddly brief ('Colonel Paper 2:00 , 'King Flute' 1:22 , 'Daily Get Ups 1:35' , 'Hudson Rake' 1:44) and none particularly memorable
Track 11 'I Love Kangaroo's' is down right terrible & I'm Australian ! Check these zinger lyrics
"I love kangaroos / Its funny what they do / And they will jump around / And hug you "
