Not a convincing record. It kind of washed over me and there is something "unfinished" about it. Can't put my finger on it though. Not unpleasant to listen to.

I'm not sure what album you were listening to, but this is easily the most reminiscent of Eeels' late 90s early 00s music they have made since then. An enjoyable listen if you already like Eels. You're right, it doesn't do anything new instead it does stuff that's old; however, it's well executed for the most part.
