Feb20. Opener, 'Rats' isn't a bad song and despite the heavy keys, I heard a little Motley Crue to this one. I have had a few listens to this and not a lot has appealed to me. 'Dance Macabre' is my favourite. 2.5/5

A saxophone , a god damn saxophone kicks in at the conclusion of "Miasma" and it was at that moment I knew I was listening to something very special. Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the wonderful world of Ghost
This album defies all logic and expectation and is quite simply one the the very very best albums to come out in 2018. Chief Ghost Tobias Forge has described 'Prequelle' as the best 70's rock album you've never heard and that's pretty close to the mark .It's an intoxicating mix of Metal (track 2 "Rats") , 70's Rock (think Boston and track 5 "Dance Miasma") , 70's Rock Opera (think Jim Steinman circa Bat Out Of Hell and track 9 "Helvetesfonster") and 70's Balladry (think REO Speedwagon and closer "Life Eternal"). Interestingly album has a loose theme around Medieval Times with track 2 "Rats" referencing the black plague as the best example of this. Lyrically its pretty cheesy stuff , but you know what ? It's part of it's charm , besides I've never been a big lyrics guy any way
And just when you think things couldn't get any better hang around after the last track on the CD and you'll get 2 cracking covers: (1) "It's A Sin" (Pet Shop Boys 1987) and (2) "Avalanche" (Leonard Cohen 1971)
This album is Big , Bold , Ballsy and down right Brilliant
Ghost are unquestionable one of the most important bands in rock music right now
It feels almost like a pop album, with its catchy melodies, variable production, and the occasional cringy moment. I don't feel that its as artistically significant as their debut or Meliora, but its so fun it'll probably be the album of theirs I play the most.
Best Track: Miasma
One of my favorite album of 2018, Listened to Life eternal all the time

It is not as good as Meliora, but still a nice listen. A little easier for the average listener I think. 7.5/10.
