Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.4/100, a mean average of 75.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.2.

An all time classic. Remember, Roddy Frame was only 19 when this was released, only 16 when he wrote the beautiful We Should Send Letters. This is packed, start to finish with beautifully crafted, melodic classics: The Boy Wonders, Walk Out to Winter, Pillar to Post, Lost in the Tunnel. If you've never heard it, listen to it now.

The only Aztec Camera I own but excellent. Quite a different sound to some of the other artists riding the wave in 1983. In parts almost sounds like Prefab Sprout but in the most quite unique. Acoustic guitar underpins a lot of the tracks which is quite refreshing and different to a lot of the music I enjoy.

Somewhere in between New Wave and Post Punk.... A couple good songs, but a number of songs make me want to chew broken glass and throw myself down a flight of stairs.

Tea-and-algae-stained British indie-pop from the 80s at its finest.

This is the only Aztec Camera album I own and it's a good one. Standout tracks are Oblivious and Lost Outside The Tunnel.

What a beautiful time to be 15 and still wonderful to hear this album again. Maybe we all still underrate it. Yes, The Smtihs captured the feelings of more teenagers, but they never reached this beauty, clear like a scottish stream. "We could send letters" may contain the most beautiful words from a teenager since Francoise Sagans "Bonjour tristesse", if not since Rimbauds poetry.
