Solid debut for Metallica. They would do much better in the next 8 years, however.

This album sounds like a panzer with four teenagers in it.

The prototypical album of the genre. It's still shocking this came out in 1983 in the midst of the cheezy hair metal era. This album may not be Metallica's best, or a genuinely musical accomplishment in and of itself, but it certainly was a breath of fresh, harsh air when it came out.

I don't get it, why is ridiculously fast a good thing? Exhausting.

I guess this is the beginning of a subgenre that I don’t really care for: thrash metal. Deserves some recognition, but the two albums that came after this one are clearly of more importance.

Metallica 1983’s 'Kill ‘Em All' is as remarkable debut album there has ever been and is essential listening for any music fan

It takes as few listens to fully embrace the simplicity of the speed, sheer malice, and seemingly effortless technical prowess each member of the band displays throughout each of the ten tracks here. The rawness of the music and lyrics combined with the musical deftness of its members make this one hell of an album

Despite this record’s age and its supposed flaws, it is still brimming with vitality and hasn’t lost a fraction of it’s thumping, eardrum-lacerating edge

A landmark debut for heavy metal, and aided in the development and birth of thrash metal. "The Four Horsemen", "Whiplash", "Seek and Destroy", "Hit the Lights" and Cliff Burton's amazing bass solo are highlights.

Honestly, I dunno if its Stranger Things or not, but this album does give out a strong 80s vibe. I think that's attributed to young, raw voice of an angry James Hetfield.

Certainly a landmark for heavy metal and it is a highly enjoyable album with many tracks you have to revisit every now and again. However, I do think this is one of the few Metallica albums that isn't ageing all that well for me.

It's a great debut, and once again a very important album, but comparing it musically, sonically, and lyrically to the 2-3 albums to follow, you'd have to be kidding. Kill Em All is a tour de force of speed and aggression, and some of the best songs of any pure thrash album. However, Metallica would write much more interesting and thoughtful records in the years to come.
