Mar20. Holy shit! This sounds great. The husky vocals remind me of someone else, but I can't pick right now (maybe the singer of Trash Boat?). If you like bands like The Menzingers and Penske File, then check this out. I had only listened to a couple of songs a few times before this full album play through.
'Nuevo' is a slow introduction that leads into the cool 'Sequels, Remakes & Adaptations'. 'Bellyache' is brilliant. 'Buffalo, Buffalo' has some cool moments, with stops and starts and other standard punk moments and then a backing guitar that is very Menzingers-like. 'The Boy Considers His Haircut' has a bit of a The Clash rhythm to it. So does 'El Nino'…. The lyrics to this one are some fun too. This song could become a favourite.
Wow, this does not let up. It might be a bit 'samey' for some, but this is the stuff I love. It does finish with a slow acoustic number which is okay, but I love the rest of this. I'm starting with a decent score, but feel this could become a 5/5 with more listens.
May21. I've spent a lot of time with this and it helped get me through COVID lockdowns. A bloody emotional album. I keep finding favourites on here. 'Bellyache' and 'Buffalo, Buffalo' have both wormed their way into top quarter of my 2018 H100. Almost every song is in the list. Yes, it is time to bump this up, but I amnot quite at a 5 yet. 4.5/5
