Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 13% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.6/100, a mean average of 74.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.8.

This is my favorite Steve Hackett album. I think it has a lot of variety. I really love the title track, as well as the epic parts like tigermoth and clocks
Having been lucky enough to see Steve Hackett live several times, the highlight tracks on this album and in live shows are Every Day, Spectral Mornings and Clocks. Love the bass pedals!
A mix between great Steve Hackett and soon-to-be 80s pop Steve Hackett. Hackett's first album "Voyage of the Acolyte" set a tone, and continued with this tone for the album's duration. This album has an overall sound, and then a couple of track that break this sound. The first track "Every Day" has good moments, but also has a cheesy synthesizer in it, making it sound like a prog song mixed with 80s pop. The rest of the album keeps a serious, medeivel feel....except for Ballad of the Decomposing Man, which is so out of place it's ridiculous. It's not a bad song, but it has no place on this album. Overall, this is a very nice and beautiful listen, but the out of place tunes really stand out.
