Definitely an amazing guitarist both in and outside of Genesis. I love his first 4 albums. He is my second favorite Genesis Alumnus after Anthony Phillips.
The most underrated guitart. Full of elegance. His records keep a high cuality level
Legendary Genesis guitarist who inspired some of their greatest work. Still fantastic live after all these years. His early solo stuff is an extension of the band's work and both Acolyte and Spectral Mornings are classic. A good mate of Steven Wilson apparantly - saw him at the Porcupine Tree gig at the Albert Hall a couple of years ago.
His work with Genesis was marginalized but still great, and his solo output/work with GTR is good too.
Of all the members of Genesis, Hackett stands out to me the most as being both a talented musician and songwriter. They all had their charm, and have released good albums (debatable for Phil Collins), but Steve Hackett has consistently put out the best music.
