Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 66.9/100, a mean average of 65.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 66.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.6.

Noah and the Whale has never been an acclaimed band, their music is not out of this World, their lyrics are amazing but not too profound. But I hate people defining a band or an album on those parameters. In a particular time of my life, this was the only album I listen too, its easy and you can be easily identify with the lyrics.
Always had a big soft spot for this album, maybe because it was one of the first albums I listened to before really discovering music, or maybe it's because of the brit in me.
This is not an outstanding work but listen to this quite nicely :)
ehhh, pek iyi degil.
A nice album. I also hear the Lou Reed influence, which is nice. I also hear a bit of influence from the National & The Smashing Pumpkins, surprisingly. I think I would like this album a lot more if it was less electronic. The vocals, lyrics, and constructions of the songs are all pretty good, if not great. It's just a piss-off whenever I hear the synths come in, and the fake drums.
I agree, especially in the Lou Reed influence, still this album has a phenomenal pop sensibility and consisten extraordinary arrangements, the first half of the album is extraordinary in this sense. Lets face it, it is the really first great album of this guys, lets wait for the next one...
Good listening but leans much too heavily on Lou Reed and Bruce Springsteen.
