Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.4/100, a mean average of 69.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.7.

I agree with an earlier comment about the sleeve artwork, a great typically progressive/folk style album sleeve. The album provides an interesting listen with a slightly heavier sound than earlier works. Some superb lead guitar work on this album.
El único álbum de Jethro Tull posterior a los 70 que se acerca, muy de lejos, a su sonido clásico.

Love the album by and large, the additional tracks were an added bonus and quite good. Beastie, Clasp, Broadsword and Pussy Willow are great. Cheerio, I love, but the stand out is Seal Driver.
I never really understood this one which is why I ranked it as only the 15th Jethro Tull album. Beastie I find to be an awful song, never understood the jarring drums and lyrics.
Highlights: Broadsword, Pussy Willow, and Fallen on hard times is ok.
Surprising aspect - the songs after Cheerio ... which were added later are all mainly stronger than what they put on the album.
Cheerio!
Pretty underrated album.
Beasty and Broadsword alone are two of the most energetic Tull Tracks ever. Falling on hard times and pussy willow have great riffs and the Album is very consistent.
Often celebrated as one of Tull's best of the 80s, this is a mixed bag. The 80s synth and drum sounds often clash with the mystical folkie vibes that come through, but the only song I really can't stand is Flying Colours. The artwork is amazing though, worth buying the vinyl for the sleeve alone!
My favourite Jethro Tull album. A great set of songs that fit well as a whole (the original 10 songs, not the remastered version with a load of extra tracks). A nice blend of their early sound with a little bit more of a modern (80s) feel.

I used to seriously hate that album because the song Broadsword is among one of the best of the band but all the rest of the album is so weak. Re-listening to it now I realize that my extreme reaction may have been due to this extreme difference between the top track and all the rest. I still doubt that I will ever find this album anything other than weak still. It also does hurt that the cover seemed so promising (compare it to the crappy covers of Under Wraps, Benefit or This Was), but we should not judge an album by its cover.
