Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.8/100, a mean average of 77.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.5.

Generally the original songs are great but the covers don't really work. Very hit and miss

The recording quality is awful but there is some energy that's able to creep through. The vocals are very distinct but the screams that frequent almost every song on the album can get grating on the ears, especially with the poor audio quality. It's hard to hear a lot of the background noise so it's mostly vocals and drums with some guitar and piano here and there. The influence of their energy is apparent but the lack of original content and the low quality of the audio make it hard for me to enjoy this album.

That was really loud, and a whole lot of fun. Loved Strychnine.

Am I missing something here? How is this not in the top 1000? I just listened to this album for the first time, and I'm completely blown away. This album was released in 1965, I had no clue such naked aggression in music even existed at this point. I've known The Stooges and the Velvet Underground for a while now, and to me, they were the definition of 60s Garage Punk, but this... this is just fucking crazy. The screams on this album are more real and raw than anything I've ever heard before, so much music clearly takes after this album it's crazy. To me it's clear that this album is one of the most important of all time, its style was simply revolutionary, I've never heard anything like this released this early... Maybe I'll find something from earlier though, because I originally thought this about the Stooges. But these are only my first impressions of this album lmao, so what do I know.

Energetic and fast, the beginning of punk. Hard to believe that was realeased in 1965.

Raw and instant. Sounds like it was recorded in a jumping and hot and sweaty pub. As Dylan said, 'Play it f@#king loud'.

If you love the history rock and roll, this is so essential. Proof that not everybody was obsessed with the British Invasion in 1965. Loud, raw, bluesy, and all-american.
