Am I missing something here? How is this not in the top 1000? I just listened to this album for the first time, and I'm completely blown away. This album was released in 1965, I had no clue such naked aggression in music even existed at this point. I've known The Stooges and the Velvet Underground for a while now, and to me, they were the definition of 60s Garage Punk, but this... this is just fucking crazy. The screams on this album are more real and raw than anything I've ever heard before, so much music clearly takes after this album it's crazy. To me it's clear that this album is one of the most important of all time, its style was simply revolutionary, I've never heard anything like this released this early... Maybe I'll find something from earlier though, because I originally thought this about the Stooges. But these are only my first impressions of this album lmao, so what do I know.

Energetic and fast, the beginning of punk. Hard to believe that was realeased in 1965.

Raw and instant. Sounds like it was recorded in a jumping and hot and sweaty pub. As Dylan said, 'Play it f@#king loud'.

If you love the history rock and roll, this is so essential. Proof that not everybody was obsessed with the British Invasion in 1965. Loud, raw, bluesy, and all-american.

The only band punk rock enough to cover good golly miss molly like the original punk rocker Little Richard. All other versions are sissy versions, this hits it on the head, but probably my favorite song is Have Love Will Travel.

Such a underreted and influential band. Sure the sound is awful, but the band has great energy, passion and attitude. Still somehow sounds fresh, especially compared with those garage/post punk revival bands nowadays.

A hidden gem from the 60's. Many point to this album as what started punk. The drum sound in particular is fantastic along with the energy shown on this album.

The recording quality detracts somewhat on a few of the songs, as the screams sound painful. I don't think it stands up all that well against the test of time.

What do you need to provide the energy needed for a song ? Nowadays it seems to be easy , but imagine doing this in the 60s. Where a concept of fierce but very fast song almost did not exist. The answer is screaming with your voice , to cheer everyone at the beginning of each song, and believe you will be infected every time that he shouts.I always liked the name of this band ... The Sonics . They reminded me of "Sonic Youth" but I did not believe that the material they produced could be compared to something that I love ,made in later years. "The Witch" can bewitch anyone with its unforgettable beat and its strange-movement guitar that looks bluesy but closely deludes the people who say that it is simple. And in the middle of the song when everything looks calm The Band accelerates everything coming next to tenuous line of punk. This acceleration lasts only a few seconds , but believe this was the best 23 seconds of the band, when the drums decide to stop playing and the song starts to be serious , not really, and in the first song you are already beginning to be infected.Other songs (Do you love me , Roll Over Beethoven) make you want to dance , they are quite simple however can lead anyone to madness when the band shows its Unforgettable ability and geniality to transform this to a wonder machine. And those screams at the beginning of the song, that add a lot of energy to every song, only give you ever more desire to get up from the chair and dance, not a formal dance, but the dance of madness and dance of evolution. "Psycho" is my favorite of that album, also came very close to punk, and divided the three chords with "Like A Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan. And its unforgettable lyrics (although not so smart) sticks in your memory, taking you from the boredom of the day the most boring moments.ending the album "Strychine" leads the band to a new progression, a new style of music that was to come, already showing what the following bands would bring. Known by few this album was (for me) the first step toward punk, and an evolution in rock. Don't stop screaming bro.
