Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.5/100, a mean average of 69.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.7.

Aug19. A lot of big choruses on here. Even when I was not really into a song, along comes the chorus and… boom! They have clearly inserted heavier moments into many songs too. Not of the quality of Chuck, but still good to hear.
'Turning Away' is a ripper opener. 'A Death In the Family' has the soft/heavy dynamic down pat. 'Heads Will Roll' opens with a cool, almost bluesy riff, that would not sound out of place on a Clutch album, then moves to a vibe that reminds me of Green Day's Warning album (especially the drums).
'45 (A Matter of Time)' is a very good, barbed shot at Donald Trump. Nice. They don't slow down until track 7, 'Never There', which sounds like their mid-career stuff.
For the most part, they moved away from their pop-punk sound. 'The People Vs…' sounds like an amped Pennywise track, with a killer solo. Closer, 'Catching Fire' is hard to peg with its saccharine chorus and keyboards, but is a pretty cool closer to a short album. 4/5
