I The Mighty released their debut album We Speak through their first record label Talking House Records. But unfortunately for the band, the label collapsed around the same time that they were to release the album. Only a few hundred CDs were made, and the band sold them at their local gigs until they ran out. Within the next year, they were signed by Equal Visions and off-and-running to kick off their careers. But this album has never been re-released, and it is far-and-away my favorite of theirs. It sits in a nice pocket of Alternative Punk, with touches of prog-rock and screamo. But the songs are jams and a blast to listen to. Highlights of the album are the stereo mixing on the bridge of I The Mighty Defeatist and Lorelei (and stay for the hidden track at the end!)
