DIIV is shoegazing hard on this, sounding a lot like My Bloody Valentine's "Soon" tone-wise. I love this sound, but the melodies themselves are not very memorable. It is an enjoyable record overall.
This album really has grown on me. Didn't love it immediately like Is The Is Are, however after revisiting the album again and again it sinks in and takes hold. The individual tracks are strengthened by the whole. Diivs guitar sound has really continued to get more massive with each album.
Like this album, Blankenship my favorite.
I'm loving the evolution of DIIV with this new record. More guitars and distortion (best exemplified in Blankership) but still dreamy. Skin Game works perfect as a single. Deceiver is growing on me more and more and will probably be there in my 2019 list.
