As Brad says, there are some great moments in here, but overall I'd say it is not as good as their previous release Skylight. It's still a good album though. I have to say I love this band, and their acoustic performances are quite astonishing. But the vibe they manage to create in their albums is something I have never seen anywhere else...

Pinegrove continue their obsession with one word album titles following ‘Meridian’ (2012), ‘Cardinal’(2016), ‘Skylight’ (2018) with ‘Marigold’ in 2020
Falling somewhere within the prism of Emo , Americana and Indi Rock Pinegrove have released a simply gorgeous album that justifies the massive cult following the band enjoys
Beautiful moments are plenty here but special mention to the sub minute “Spiral” ( who says a great song needs to be 3 to 4 minutes) and second to last “Neighbour” which bleeds seemlessly into closer and title track “Marigold”
January is traditionally a slow month for great new album releases but 2020 is bucking the trend with an early contender for AOTY
