Top 100 Music Albums of 2020 by Keatownrodriguez

What an odd year for music. It was definitely good but it was so far removed from my expectations of what I thought I would be listening to this year. I had no idea I'd be listening to Taylor Swift all the time or that Sufjan would drop a great album. Not to mention how many of my favorite albums are from artists I wasn't familiar with before this year. Lots of surprises and lots of great records.

This is a weird one because most of these songs are years old at this point but they're finally getting an album release, some already had EP releases but this all of their first time on a full length so I'd say It counts as a new album. It does still feel weird to have an album featuring Hoshi No Utsawa on my 2020 list cause I've been jamming to that since I was 13 am here we are almost 5 years later. Oh well, this band is amazing and so heartwarming. Like I said Hoshi Utsawa is an all-time great and you should check it out. This album also has a song that was used in the Japanese version of Pixar's Onward (zenryoku shounen), Seishun is beautiful, and Ah yeah is also a fan favorite so this album is an instant j-pop classic. What can I say. I love this band to death and each of their projects stand as individual unique testaments of the band's love for all things music. This album just feels like everything good about music, it may be my second favorite project of theirs, and even if it was my least favorite of their it would still be very loved by me. This is easily my favorite Strokes project and I just love the fact that a band that's been around for as long as them has the potential to outdo themselves so I have real respect for this project. It's basically a return to form at their peak that is aside from the inclusion of At The Door which I think is a big part as to why this album works so well. It acts as a centerpiece to the rest of the album in an amazing way. [First added to this chart: 03/22/2020]

I was not expecting to like this at all let alone be listening to it constantly since its release. From the opening moments of Conversation I realized I was really into the final songs of an artist who was taken at the start of his career. All the songs really drive home the sort of thought that were in Juice's mind on his final days. It gets downright touching on songs like Rightous and Wishing Well. Yet it has amazing bangers like Come & Go (seriously it's so driving) and the closer Man of the Year which leaves you feeling some hope after the mostly sad album.
