What an odd year for music. It was definitely good but it was so far removed from my expectations of what I thought I would be listening to this year. I had no idea I'd be listening to Taylor Swift all the time or that Sufjan would drop a great album. Not to mention how many of my favorite albums are from artists I wasn't familiar with before this year. Lots of surprises and lots of great records.

This is a weird one because most of these songs are years old at this point but they're finally getting an album release, some already had EP releases but this all of their first time on a full length so I'd say It counts as a new album. It does still feel weird to have an album featuring Hoshi No Utsawa on my 2020 list cause I've been jamming to that since I was 13 am here we are almost 5 years later. Oh well, this band is amazing and so heartwarming. Like I said Hoshi Utsawa is an all-time great and you should check it out. This album also has a song that was used in the Japanese version of Pixar's Onward (zenryoku shounen), Seishun is beautiful, and Ah yeah is also a fan favorite so this album is an instant j-pop classic.

What can I say. I love this band to death and each of their projects stand as individual unique testaments of the band's love for all things music. This album just feels like everything good about music, it may be my second favorite project of theirs, and even if it was my least favorite of their it would still be very loved by me.

This is easily my favorite Strokes project and I just love the fact that a band that's been around for as long as them has the potential to outdo themselves so I have real respect for this project. It's basically a return to form at their peak that is aside from the inclusion of At The Door which I think is a big part as to why this album works so well. It acts as a centerpiece to the rest of the album in an amazing way.

This was one of the first big albums of the year and I was really itching for new albums, this one just so happened to fill that void. I listened to it and immediately fell in love with the whole vibe and tone of the record with it's dark robotic textures. I picked up the album as soon as I could on vinyl and would listen to it nearly nightly as I fell asleep or was working on school. You'll Miss Me When I'm Not Around and Delete Forever will be all-time favorite songs of mine.

Love it when a band comes out of nowhere and gives me an album that I adore front to back. It's pure bliss and happiness. Black Licorice, Brian's Movie and Figure 8 have been non stop listens for me since the album's release.

See I say this album is sort of disappointing, yet here it is fairly high on my year list. Why, who knows. Maybe it's because of my bias towards the man himself after all of the content he's made to entertain me in the past and now I feel a need to support him. Whatever it may be I will listen to this album a lot and most likely eventually grow to love tons of these tracks. That's obviously not a bad thing because tons of moments are really pretty and fun but no songs outside of the singles and maybe the opener really feel dynamic. There's no growth or climax for the most part. So I'm confused on what to say. Oh well, those singles (especially Run) are amazing.
