Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 25% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.6/100, a mean average of 73.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.1.

Beach Bunny is a delicious slice of summer fun. The group takes the ferocious power pop of The Muffs, the indie sweetness of Dressy Bessy and emotional songwriting akin to Lydia Loveless.
The lyrics and vocals are particularly exceptional for an indie group. The lyrics cut deep without being too dreary or pretentious and the vocals are twee and gentle yet powerful and dynamic.
Overall, an excellent debut. At 25 minutes, it's a brief honeymoon that makes you yearn for the next vacation.
Recommended.
Condensed to a 7" Single:
A-Side: Promises
B-Side: Ms California

Really strong start of the album but decreases from great to good about halfway through I think. I love the vocals and think that the album begins and ends with the quality of the lead singer's performance. The groove is a little repetitive but it's still good and the record is short enough that it doesn't get beat into the ground.

If like me you don’t mind sprinkling your music blend with some sweet saccherin indie pop then your in luck because you can now add Beach Bunny to your collection along with Speedy Ortiz , Charlie Bliss and HAIM ( who’s new album came out today as a matter of fact)
At the very least check out the sub 2 minute “Racetrack “ to hear great music can come in small packages
I love the song "Ms. California," I think it's one of my favorite songs of the year so far -- insanely catchy but still very felt. I couldn't get as into the rest of the record, though that's not to say the rest is bad, I just didn't find it as striking. The lead singer, Lili Trifilio, has a really nice voice, and she does a great job of conveying a lot of emotion in each song. The lyrics aren't incredibly interesting, but in songs as catchy as "Ms. California," it almost helps in terms of focusing. I really like this band, and am excited for more of their stuff!
You can't say it's massively original but they have great energy and a good ear for a catchy melody.

Excellent jam of an album. A real blast to listen to beginning to end, fun energy and exemplary of what lo-fi should be.
