Cellar Darling is a kind of Celtic-inspired, goth-leaning pop-metal band from Switzerland, whose lead singer (Anna Murphy, who might not be from Switzerland originally) is probably too talented for this sort of material. (She could be the next Tori Amos!) I'm not a "metal guy" myself, but it's hard to find much fault with this record. They're not quite as "epic" or "symphonic" as Epica, nor as they as goth-ish as, say, Lacuna Coil, but those are both good things, and I actually like this LP better than anything I've heard from those two. Their promo material describes them as "folk metal" or "folk-rock/metal," but that's probably just their record label worrying that using tags like "Celtic" and "goth" would hurt sales. It probably would, actually, so I should probably just delete what I wrote in the first sentence. But hey, that's a lot of extra keystrokes. (Edited)
