Yet again, Denzel Curry comes through with maybe the best hip hop release of the year. And yet again, I so badly wish it was twice as long.
This is incredible! So creative and catchy, and it gets better with each listen. AOTY 2020.

Dope little project from Denzel and Kenny Beats. Short but unrelenting. Denzel spits with energy over some heavily-Madlib-influenced beats from Kenny Beats. My only qualm is Denzel's continued over-reliance on a hook. It's not that big a deal but I just think sometimes the repeated, somewhat-canned choruses take away from his performance.
Unlocked thrives on its beats. Kenny Beats weaves multiple unique tracks with curving basslines, beats that cut in and out, and old horror movie clips. Denzel Curry has some fun lyrics and effectively employs a DMX like flow. The briefness of the project greatly limits it however. The bulk of the tracks only have one verse and it prevent Curry from building up any momentum. This also prevents a lot of the beats from reaching their peak before a new one will begin.
Good stuff.
