Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.0/100, a mean average of 68.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.2.

Let's look beyond the anti-vax BS lines
The Allegory is a loose concept album - while its theme and focus definitely get diluted - there are definitely some excellent moments.
This theme of “Woke” when at its best - is presented brilliantly on this project. Take the track Dope Man & Overcomer. These tracks are lyrically heavy - and carry the theme of allegory very well. I also wanted to point out that they sound really good and unique to Royce. In fact, this entire project was self-produced by him. I really enjoyed the scattered soundscape he put together. It's a very minimalist sound, that really provides space for those dense bars. But It's not perfect - there are some misses - For instance Rhinestone Doo Rag - the sampled effects sound misplaced and forced. And The production on On the Block is dull. But on the flip side, there are some very strongly produced tracks - I mentioned Dope Man and Overcomer - Young World can be added to that list - chops up and distorts multiple samples included pray by Jay Z, Hey Young World by Slick Rick among others. In these songs, he uses distorted samples as a tool to further drive home the allegory theme - and the message of re-evaluating what you think you might already know.
I know a lot of people are writing this album off due to the anti-vax lines. Those statements and claims that he made are wrong - they are incorrect and I don’t agree with it being presented as facts. However, I can understand why someone like him would have paranoia surrounding that.
So with all that - I’m not going to completely write off this project - it's flawed, sure I don’t agree with all the stances, some of the tracks are boring, and the subject matter can feel unfocused.
But to counter - it also has moments of cultural awareness, has some unique & powerful production, along with excellent features - the Griselda crew, Vince’s Staples, and overall excellent rapping by Royce.
FAVORITE TRACKS: MR & MRS GRACE / DOPE MAN / FUBU / YOUNG WORLD / OVERCOMER
Some great ideas, excellent production by Royce. A lot of filler tracks and some standpoints which I don't approve. Overall good album.
