I think the best description of this album is that it's The Rasmus trying to sound like Imagine Dragons. It sounds a lot more dance orientated than their previous stuff, and the effects on the vocals and some of the "Woah" choruses are straight out of the Imagine Dragons playbook.

It definitely threw me the first time I heard it, but I do quite like it now. Lauri Ylönen has a strong and distinctive voice, and the lyrics are pretty in line with their previous albums, so the band still has kept a lot of its vibe even with the new style.

For album highlights, I think the first six songs are all pretty strong, maybe "Empire" stands out the most, then "Black Days" is easily my favourite song on the album. It kind of tails off after that for me though. There's not a huge drop in quality, but the last three songs are the weakest on the album for me.

Overall, I think this might not instantly appeal to people who are only familiar with "Dead Letters", but I think it's definitely worth giving it a few listens, as it's grown on me a lot compared to when I first heard it.
