It's good, but it pales in comparison to the rest of his catalog

Though not his best work, it still has some fire ass songs (ADHD, Tammy's Song, Ronald Reagan Era)

It is just amazing how Kendrick can impress me. This album is often seem as a minor on his career, but I mean, everything that made him big is already here, altough in a lesser scale. The jazzy beats, the narrative lyrics, the social commentaries.
I think the only thing that didn't turn this into one It his best works, was the fact that Kendrick holds his influences on his sleeves, Eminem and especially Kanye can be heard echoeing here. I mean "Hiiipower" is like an alternative version of kanye's "POWER".

Like Outkast, Eminem and Kanye, Kendrick shows us how catchy rap can be, and how hip hop can live on its own without help.

The sheer brilliance of GKMC and TPAB shouldn't make us undervalue Section.80, which is pretty great on its own merits and one of the best debut albums to come out of the hip hop genre. ADHD and Keisha's song are both highlights, and Hiiipower is to this day one of my top 5 Kendrick songs ever. Yes, overall it may not be as good as his next two albums, but I actually think it's at the very least better than DAMN.

Inconsistent compared to TPAB and GKMC but still it contains my favorite track from Kendrick Lamar. Hiii power.

I'm listening to this so far and have to say this might be my second favorite. The jazz and the chilled moments that gel really well.

After discovering and loving To Pimp a Butterfly I went through Kendrick's discography quickly afterwards... and wow.. What a powerful entry this one is. It's a Kendrick staple and has it all. Keisha's Song is so emotional and made me almost tear up. I love this album by him. Probably my 3rd favorite for sure. (Though he doesn't have a lot yet of course). Can't recommend enough.

Like was said--the midsection is a bit weaker, but even the weaker songs feel like something special. Still, some of these tracks are every bit as great as what Kendrick would go on to do on Good Kid and TPAB.
