Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.1/100, a mean average of 79.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.2.

Nice melodies. Sweet reverberation and spacey guitar sounds. Pleasantly loud throughout, yet serene and even flowing. Excellent album all around.
Proof that good Progressive and Space Rock is still being made, you just have to search for it. This album is epic, atmospheric, and exciting. It feels like this exists outside of time thanks to its modern production and 60s/70s influences. So far this is my favorite album of the year and its by a band I didn't know existed until now. I went back and listened to Slift's last album, La Planète Inexplorée, and was surprised how muddy the production was compared to Ummon. While the instrumentation of their previous project was still amazing, this album definitely benefits from the more polished sound. I love that many songs have a touch of punk in the vocals, giving it a unique feeling compared to most of the prog rock I've listened to. I can't wait to go back and listen to more of this. My only complaint is that this album isn't on Spotify yet. Luckily the band's youtube channel has the full album. Seriously, for anyone looking for an album to take them on a journey while they're stuck at home for the next month (or more) give Ummon a listen.
