Possibly her best album. I was always a fan of the debut over any other but I feel she may have hit a high with this which I hope will continue.
1. I giggled every time she cursed.
2. Folk shouldn't bang this hard but it does.
3. It's wonderful.
"Song For Our Daughter" is just solid song writing. Marling's voice sounds crisp and gentle and her lyrics feel though out but approachable. The album also does a great job in giving the instrumentals a varied sound. Guitars drums, and piano are all used uniquely. A few of the tracks are best less memorable such as "Blow by Blow" and "Fortune". The synths appearing at the end "For you" breaks the calm tone.

Talented guitarist and vocalist. I enjoy the Buffalo Springfield-like rhythm employed on a few of the songs. Very relaxed but a little less engaging than I'd like.

I feel like I'm one or two more listens away from really cracking the heart of this thing. And though I wish there was a little more life in tracks after "Strange Girl," this is Laura Marling's best record since Once I Was an Eagle.

LM's best album since 2013's 'Once I Was an Eagle' and certainly her most accessible (thus the love here)
This album makes an excellent entry point to those wanting to discover the Marling catalogue
Beautiful and calm, it's a very pleasant listening and "For You" it's one of my fav songs of the year.
Very fine album, every single track is special.
Her most beautiful and mature album to date. Some lovely songs here. She keeps getting better with each release.

Laura's gotten better with each album, and so it is here, as this may be her strongest set of songs so far, despite lacking the experimentation of Semper Femina or her side project LUMP. It's a lush, melodic set of songs, on which I personally feel that Laura conveys more vulnerability than she ever has before - though there is sass and fire to be found too, particularly on the track Strange Girl. Case in point is the closer, For You, a simple acoustic ballad with a gorgeous, understated melody that takes the album out on a floaty cloud of warm feelings. Great album!
