Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 12% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.7/100, a mean average of 73.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.8.

Coldplay trato de hacer algo más experimental pero sin arriesgarse demasiado, como resultado, un album que tiene cosas interesantes pero que no va a ningún lado.
"Cemeteries of london", "viva la vida" y "violent hill" son las pistas mas destacadas.

Englis review:
Coldplay tried to do something more experimental but without risking too much, as a result, an album that has interesting things but that doesn't go anywhere.

Feels like a concept album made for the express purpose of being able to say that “we made a concept album”.

I hate the syrupy sweetness of the singles, and most of the rest feels trite and clichéd. I thought the final song was a compelling attempt at redemption.

Enjoyed the slight change with a couple of longer songs that we didn't get on their previous releases - Yes and Lovers in Japan. Also like Life In Technicolour and the two main singles (Violet Hill, Viva La Vida) of course.

Personally the last time coldplay demanded my attention with an album. It still fails to light me up but i can appreciate what is here. Brian Eno impact is very noticeable on this one

This album in my opinion is quite poor and feels like the group has lost all their quality they demonstrated on their previous work. The first half to me is full of not very unique filler tracks that I struggled to stay engaged in at all. The vocal and lyrics on several songs are one dimensional and sometimes even annoying for example on Yes. Also, they seem to be leaning towards more accessible instrumentation to appeal to the mainstream rather than creating complex and rich cuts. I was really worried for this record after hearing those first few songs as there was just nothing really special. However, the album is partially saved for me by the great run they go on in the second half with tracks 7,8,9 being my highlights. There was nothing that I would call sensational on this record and that does dishearten me to say as I adore their previous work. Overall, this might be a record that takes a multiple listens to truly get but in my opinion this record is way too high ranked and is no way near the best Coldplay record.

Their last moments of greatness. Apart from the obvious title-track, "Cemeteries of London" and "42" are easily among their best songs.

Viva la Vida, Violet Hill, Strawberry Swing. A great album that sounds nothing like early Coldplay.

Yes, we may feel this was the beggining of their decline (Viva la Vida, the song, was an omen of the terrible radio pop style they will step in afterwards), but it was a daring movement in their career. And a successful one. The album works coherently, it has clear shoegaze vibes going thru it making the songs smooth and ethereal but also dynamic, contrasting with the balads of Coldplay's previous era. I quit following the band after this record, the splendour of one of the most defining bands of the 00's vanished with the following works.
