Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 66.4/100, a mean average of 60.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 60.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.2.

55-65/100
All the elements of this album are nice in and of themselves, however when put together the sum is less or something. There are some really cool moments when I think "Okay, now here we go, this'll be good" then almost without fail the nice thing is dropped or falls flat.
The rockers, with their crunchy riffs, even tend to make me feel there is a something missing - maybe its just that intangible sense of passion or charisma. "Heart Attack Kid" is a good example of this. The song is solid and the solo is cool. But all told, it left me wanting maybe a little more. "Careless" has a bit more charisma and does, indeed, rock. Nothing I got worked up about.
The opening few songs kinda struck me as too cute. There were way too many "ooh oooh oh" vocal chorus parts. Maybe only 3, but, again, too many. The lyrics convey nice sad sack romantic-themed mindset. These were fine overall but felt a little half-baked.
The last couple tracks end this album on a bit of a bummer. Both seem to be going for power pop invigorated ear-worm status. They just come across as a bit empty and pointless.
I don't know, perhaps this is a grower and is actually a power pop gem. I will never know (most likely).
